Product Overview: Permanent Solution for Next-Generation Volvo Steering Lock Failure
This device is a permanent solution developed for the Electronic Steering Lock (ELV/ESL) failure commonly found in Volvo S90, Volvo V90, Volvo XC90, Volvo XC60, Volvo V60, and Volvo XC40 (2015–2019 SPA & CMA platforms).
This fault typically causes the vehicle not to start or the ignition not to respond.
The official dealership solution is expensive and requires ordering a new steering lock unit with complex online programming.
This emulator is designed to permanently bypass the faulty mechanical steering lock system.
No Programming Required (Plug & Play)
Unlike some systems (such as Mercedes W204 emulators), this unit does NOT require coding or programming.
Once connected, it immediately sends a “steering lock unlocked” signal to the vehicle.
Step-by-Step Installation Guide
- Turn off the ignition.
- Disconnect the socket from the faulty original ESCL unit.
- IMPORTANT: If the steering lock is stuck in the locked position, remove the lock mechanically first.
- Connect the emulator to the vehicle’s original socket.
- Connect a professional diagnostic tool.
- Access the CEM module (or relevant system) and clear all steering lock fault codes.
- Start the vehicle.
LED Status Indicators
The emulator mimics the original steering lock status:
- Solid GREEN Light:
Status: Successful. Steering lock is unlocked and vehicle is ready to start. - Solid RED Light:
Status: Steering lock is locked (normal when ignition is OFF). - Flashing RED Light:
Status: Error. Fault codes in the CEM module have not been cleared.
→ Connect a diagnostic tool and reset the errors.
